Platform project and workloadsNEW

A protected project for the servers Verlocx runs on, and workload types for VMs, containers and databases.

The Platform project

The organization that runs the portal gets a protected Platform project, created automatically when the portal starts. It holds the servers Verlocx itself runs on: portal, backend and database, or one server with all three.

  • The project can't be deleted and its slug can't be changed.
  • Its VMs have deletion protection that can't be turned off.
  • Nobody is granted access by default, so only organization admins see it until someone is added on purpose.

Which servers belong in it

The servers are named in the VERLOCX_PLATFORM_VMIDS setting as a comma-separated list of VMIDs or VM names, each optionally with a cluster and a role. They are onboarded into Platform, or moved there from another project, every time the portal starts.

EntryMeaning
101:portalVMID 101 runs the portal
102:backendVMID 102 runs the backend
103:databaseVMID 103 runs the database and is marked as PostgreSQL
pve-a/110:allVMID 110 on cluster pve-a runs everything
The database server's Database tab uses the portal's own connection and is always read-only.

Workload types

  • Every guest has a kind, Virtual machine or LXC container, and optionally a service: PostgreSQL, MySQL or MariaDB.
  • Set it in the VM's details under Workload (vm.edit.resources). The kind and service are shown as badges on the VM page.
  • A database service unlocks the VM's Database tab.
  • The container kind is a label for now; Verlocx does not provision containers.
